An icon of the last 40 years turns electric.
What’s been speculated for a while, now becomes reality:
an electrified version of the G-Class is coming.
To celebrate the future of this icon, we went back to the year the original G-Class came out: 1979. An era where science-fiction raised wild speculations of how our world will look like. And while some of these ideas turned out to be accurate, others seemed to be too… fantastic.
This is “Future 2021“
An epic 70s space opera that explores the future of mobility. A fantastic journey through space and time to a world beyond imagination. Intergalactic travellers meet robots as the G-Class gets ready to become electric.
It’s not a UFO.
It’s the Concept EQG.
The still photography is also out of this world. A retro-futuristic nostalgia featuring the cast of the film together with its main hero – the Concept EQG. Swipe through the gallery and get beamed into a world of the future.
Even Mercedes-Benz’ Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener was transported into sci-fi realms. In “EQGorden” he gets into conversation with the film cast, talks about the Concept EQG, gives insights into the design process and how they preserved the original DNA of the G-Class.
